One of the more technical Ben10 passes in the Eastern Cape Highlands region.
The 990 got a little hot up the climb and let me know she needed a short break. Riding a steep, slow, technical road fully loaded in a tailwind means high operating temperatures and insufficient airflow. This has happened twice before and always under the same circumstances - long periods of slow crawling, heavily laden (previously pillions) and with a tailwind. Sometimes the terrain doesn't allow for a reasonable pace and thus decent airflow. I pulled over, pointed her nose into the wind, had a quick bite, took in the view and was back on my way fifteen or so minutes later.
Had a close call on the long descent side when I grabbed a fistful of front brake on a slippery off-camber wash-out. I obviously braked a little hard but my primary mistake was actually body position - I was weighted on the incorrect side. Had I weighted the right side, it would have been a non-event. A good reminder to be fully switched on in slippery terrain.
