The Wandering Honda: Episode 8 Description
After the drama of failing the high pass (Aqua Negra pass), our South America motorcycle adventure detour started as a low-expectation slog. We're riding the Yamaha Ténéré 700 (T7) on the long, tarmac road north in Argentina, expecting nothing but miles, but the Andes Mountains had a surprise for us. This episode takes us from the depths of disappointment to riding the most stunning gorges and finding our way onto the iconic Ruta 40, proving that sometimes, adventure motorcycle travel detours are better than the original plan.
Full Story:
Faced with a complete replan after the Aqua Negra pass defeat, we committed to a three-day ride north to re-cross into Chile. Initially, the flat, straight tarmac felt like a defeat, but the scenery quickly shi fted, climbing into spectacular gorges and small passes. Watch as our mood shifts from "grinding it out" to genuine awe including towering cacti that felt straight out of a Western movie.
We eventually hit the legendary Ruta 40, crossing vast, dry riverbeds and experiencing the true scale of the Argentinian dry season, before ending the day with a completely unexpected find
Thanks for watching and riding along with us.
