From a recent trip to the The Eastern Cape and Lesotho with the guys from @xplrsouthafrica. This was on day two of the trip. The group left town at 8:00 that morning but I had other plans.
I departed the beautiful & quaint town of Rhodes an hour earlier and headed up Carlisleshoekspruit Pass to the start of the TTT (Tiffindell Tenahead Traverse) just below the ski-resort. My plan was to ride the Triple-T and meet up with the group at the Naude's Neck lookout - hopefully some time around 9:00.
It had rained overnight and was raining all the way up the pass. I was pretty soaked by the time I reached the top and was questioning my life decisions. It was wet and cold with snow dotted near the peaks of the Southern slopes.
I wasn't sure exactly what to expect but found the Western half of the trail waterlogged, puddly and slick. The rain finally subsided and rewarded me with incredible colours and light. I had the road all to myself. What a treat!
Doubts soon erased and running 15 minutes late, I blasted past the Tenahead Lodge fearing I was holding up the group. Fortunately they had a delayed start and I rolled in to Naude's lookout moments after they'd arrived. I'll have to return to the @TenaheadLodgeSpa as I hear the food is excellent.
I loved this track and had a lot of fun in the muddy conditions. I was out of breath merely chatting on the ride. The air is thin at ~2,600m 😅
I'll certainly be back!
