Part One of Two.
Ongeluk means 'accident'/'mistake' or 'misfortune.' It's not difficult to imagine where the pass got the name.
Situated on the border of South Africa and Lesotho somewhere between Sani Pass and Tele Bridge, this pass has somewhat of a reputation among adventure riders and 4x4 enthusiasts. It is very sparsely frequented - so much so that there is no longer any border post on the Lesotho side. The border officials were very surprised to see me. I stamped out of South Africa but technically never stamped into Lesotho, spending the next couple of days in purgatory.
Next up is Part Two followed by Lets'a la Letsi Dam and Baboon's Pass.
