The NHS isn't being privatised. It already was — and nobody told you.
While Farage and Starmer argue about the future of the NHS, private companies have been extracting £10 million a week from it for over a decade. In this investigation, I follow the money through PFI deals that turned £13 billion in hospitals into £80 billion in repayments, outsourcing contracts that cost 40% more than doing it in-house, and management consultants billing £6,600 per day during a pandemic.
A peer-reviewed study in The Lancet linked this outsourcing to 557 additional preventable deaths. And when a private company finally got to run an entire NHS hospital? They walked away after three years when the losses got too big — leaving the public to clean up the mess.
The political fight is a distraction. The real battle was lost years ago.
