DIY Timing Tool for Yamaha CS5 (On the Cheap!) #vintagemotorcycle #motorcyclerewind #cs5 #yamaha In this episode of Motorcycle Rewind, we take an $18 Harbor Freight dial indicator and modify it so we can eventually use it to set the ignition timing on our 1972 Yamaha CS5 200 Electric. Instead of buying a pricey specialty tool, we turn an old spark plug into a custom adapter so the dial indicator threads right into the cylinder head. This is a quick and easy DIY mod that lets you repurpose a cheap dial indicator for use on vintage two-strokes — especially handy for bikes like the Yamaha CS5 that require precise timing to run their best.
