It’s taken a while but I’ve finally got my hands on the Yamaha R9! Does it stand comparison with the much more expensive Ducati Panigale V2? Can it live up to the legend of Yamaha’s previous sports bike legends like the R6 and R1? Join me as I attempt to find out and offer a noob’s perspective on the sports bike of the moment!
Quick note to apologise for the wind noise in the onboard sections of the vid – was a breezy old day and I think the Shark helmet I was wearing for this is a bit noisier than my usual Shoei. Lesson learned!

Quick note to say that in the video I mention 10 configurable rider aids and assistance features – this comes from a media presentation on the bike and they comprise PWR (throttle maps), TCS (Traction Control System), SCS (Slide Control System), LIF (wheelie control), QSS (quickshifter), BC (Brake Control), EBM (engine braking), BSR (Back Slip Regulator), LC (launch control) and ABS on/off.
