Ever been to Tankwa's Ouberg?
It's one of my favourite mountain passes. A fun ride with steep ascents, run-off drains, rocky sections, swooping corners and 270 degrees of incredible views. It's currently in the best condition I've ever seen it - well worth the trek.
I recently joined a one-nighter trip to Northern Tankwa with a couple mates. We rode an interesting route featuring the Hawekwa Forest trail, a fun gravel loop other side of Bain's Kloof, the Kareekloof valley road and Pienaarsfontein/Koedoesberge before overnighting at Apollo de Karoo. Due to time constraints, we were unable to ride Ouberg on our way up so I took the opportunity to do so first thing the next morning and I certainly don't regret it.
It was a great weekend of riding, joking, laughter and making friends. Cheers Rick, Brad and Gordon 🍻
