This is the same little bike we freed up after the Benelli 650 Tornado gave us trouble — I figured this one would be a quick win. But in true vintage motorcycle fashion, the GT80 had other plans. A destroyed generator coil and mangled points brought that plan to a screeching halt. Rather than call it quits, we pivoted to the GT80’s rival — the 1974 Kawasaki MC1-90. Could this scrappy Kawasaki redeem the day? We dive in, check the basics, and see if we can get it to fire up after who knows how many decades. Two vintage trail bikes, one big question: will either of them run?
