Before Covid-19 arrived in early 2020, I had planned to film The Corrugated Story of The Red Pig. I used to take my dog for walks on Winchelsea beach, where The Red Pig is located. I suggested to Andy, the friendly and eccentric owner of The Pig, to make a short film about it, and he agreed.
Shortly after covid arrived. The UK government imposed a lockdown, putting a stop to our regular lives, including film productions. Despite having taken some general views (GVs), I lacked a key interview. Having no work I decided to continue producing my personal project even so there have not been issued clear guidelines for shooting safely during lockdown. With some uncertainty about distancing or clear idea of the consequences from catching the virus I went ahead and filmed the interview you'll see. I created the video around it. Later, as lockdown restrictions eased, I had the opportunity to shoot a little more footage.
The music in the film was composed by te girls working at the pig and musician who from time to time entertained the restaurant’s clientele.
Nevertheless, with The Red Pig closed and plenty of time on his hands, Andy began building a new mobile restaurant, leading to the retirement of the original corrugated iron-clad Red Pig.
