Project 47: Episode 7 — Fukuoka Prefecture (Solo Motorcycle Journey Across Japan)
Three days riding through Fukuoka taught me something I didn’t expect.
What began with a rough start became a layered journey across temples, coastlines, crowded city streets, quiet mountain roads, and unexpected human moments. From the massive reclining Buddha at Nanzoin to the beaches of Itoshima and the backroads north of the city, Fukuoka revealed itself slowly — and not always comfortably.
This episode completes my ride across Kyushu.
Across three days, I move between urban sprawl and open coastline, ornate Buddhist temples and quiet forest paths, neon art installations and early morning campsites. There are setbacks, small wins, and the kind of encounters that remind me why Project 47 isn’t just about places — it’s about people.
Leaving Kyushu marks the first major milestone of the series. When I rode through that tunnel toward Honshu, it felt like the journey became something bigger than I had imagined when it began.
